Dyslexia in the workplace can be a strange situation because depending worldwide, dyslexia might not be classed as a disability in the workplace.
What to do if you have dyslexia
- start the job and let your error be shown, but get support from your colleagues to check your spelling and english
- if the boss committs, explain to him or her you will try better,
When things getting more noticed
- speak to your boss and explain you have dyslexia
- explain where the problem is happen, ie you need to use the telephone more rather than emailing and more bullet point & shorter reports
- for email, you can add you have dyslexia, say sorry for any errors and link to wikipredia for a description
If your boss is still not happy
- ask what he or the organisation can do to help
- Explain to your boss if may show errors in writing but it does not hamper your work, you can still do the job
What to do, if the problem still consist and you think you might be asked to leave
- speak to the Human resources department, if you are a office, speak to the head office, even in a different country, because dyslexia is classed as a disability and they might be more understanding.
- The head office will have a policy for disabilities and that means they can not ask you to leave, so give you more of a backing.
